PIRATES LAP FALCONS IN HOME DUAL MEET; DEFEAT UTPB 115-86

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Pirate women swimmers continue to
look impressive in the water and make large improvements in times
as they beat UT-Permian Basin 115-86 in their first home meet of
the season.
Elizabeth Lewis made a statement early to the Falcons, setting a
new school record in the 1000 free, the second event of the meet,
in a time of 11:07.64. She was nearly a minute faster than her
competition in the race and improved almost 19 seconds on her
time.
Melissa Nelson also had a big day, finishing in person best times
in the 200 free and 100 fly. She took first place in the 200 free,
narrowly out-touching UTPB’s Rachel Dubon at the wall, with a
time of 2:03.21 and second in the 100 fly coming in at 1:04.65.
Sarah McCausland had two personal bests as well. Her lead off leg
of the 200 medley relay with a time of 31.4 and she took first
place in the 100 breast in a time of 1:16.08.
Stephanie Morton posted a personal best time in the 100 free coming
in at 1:03.82 for a third place finish while Michele Comerota
snatched first in a time of 58.53.
Overall, Southwestern finished in first place in nine of the eleven
events on the afternoon and are poised to take on tough competition
at their next meet, the University of Incarnate Word Invitational
on January 29th and 30th.
