WOMENS GOLF RELOADS FOR START OF 2010 FALL SEASON
GEORGETOWN, Texas – The domination continues as the Pirate women's golf team returns from yet another trip to the NCAA Championships for the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. Southwestern returns two golfers from last years' team that finished in 5th place at the NCAA Championships.
Sophomores Kelsey Coburn (pictured), who was an All-West Region player last year, and Steffi Scholer will act as anchors for this Pirate squad that also returns senior Shae Seagraves who competed well in one tournament in 2010 and senior Victoria Dominguez who took a year off but competed regularly for the Pirates and was a part of the NCAA Championship teams that finished 3rd in 2007-08 and fourth in 2008-09.
Head Coach Dan Ruyle has added new strength to the roster in first-year transfer Karissa Speck.
This year's team will begin a run towards their sixth straight NCAA Championship appearance at the TLU Bulldog Invitational in Seguin, TX on September 13th before heading to the O'Brien National Invitational at the Warren Course at Notre Dame on September 19-20. The top ten teams from last year's NCAA tournament were invited so the tough competition will give the Pirates a good challenge early in the season. They return to Texas on September 27-28 for the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational before hosting the SCAC Fall Preview on October 11 & 12 in Horseshoe Bay, TX to close out the fall season.
