WOMEN'S GOLF REBOUNDS IN DAY TWO, TIED FOR NINTH AFTER SECOND ROUND
HOWEY IN THE HILLS, Fla. - Southwestern University's women's golf team posted the sixth best team round on day two at the NCAA Championships to jump six places into a tie for ninth place with 620 strokes, 106 over par. Methodist remains in first place at 66 over par, but has had their lead cut to one stroke.
Senior Kristen Davenport returned to her sensational playing form with a eight over par on the day including shooting a phenominal two over par on the back nine. She is tied for 22nd place at 21 over par with 167 strokes.
Hot on Davenport's heels is first-year Kelsey Coburn continues to play well with a 9 over par performance, shooting +6 on the front nine and +3 on the back nine. She is just one stroke behind at 168 and 22 over par but is tied for 27th place.
Fellow first-year Stephanie Scholer showed improvement over day one, particularly on the back nine where she shot five over par. Coupled with her nine over par on the first nine holes Scholer sits in a tie for 51st place at 31 over par and 177 strokes.
Senior Cody Wallace is close behind tied for 57th place with 178 strokes at 32 over par. Her vast improvement of six strokes is the biggest jump of the day for SU and helped the Pirates make the jump up to ninth. Erin Perry sits in 97th after a 96 in the second round with 192 strokes for 46 over par.
