WOMEN'S GOLF CAPTURES FIRST BY 14 STROKES AT UTD INVITE

RICHARDSON, Texas - The Pirate women's golf team returned to their winning ways on Tuesday, dominating the final round at the UTD Lady Comet Invitational. Southwestern won by 14 strokes and every golfer finished in the top 15.

First-year Erin Perry continued her run through the rest of the competition and finished in first place overall. She shot a 78 on the final day to end 11-over-par for the tournament at 153 strokes, one stroke ahead of second place finisher Mallory McAdams of UMHB. Senior Kristen Davenport shot the lowest round of the day for the Pirates, and third lowest round on the day for all players, with a 77 to finish with 161 strokes and in sixth place.

First-year Stephanie Scholer improved by six strokes over her first round, shooting an 81 on day two to finish in a tie for ninth place at 168 strokes with UMHB's Allison Williams. Fellow first-year Kelsey Coburn also cut six strokes off her first round score, finishing with 170 strokes in tied for 11th place with three other golfers. Senior Cody Wallace came in tied for 15th place with three others with a 171, improving three strokes over her first round with an 84.

The Pirates will continue their fall season at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational beginning on October 5th.
