WOMEN'S GOLF SITS IN FIRST PLACE AFTER ONE ROUND AT UTD INVITE


RICHARDSON, Texas - After one round at the UTD Lady Comet Invitational the Southwestern women's golf team sits in first place, bettering seven other schools. First-year Erin Perry (pictured) led the way for the Pirates, shooting three-over-par 75 to take first place overall.

Perry opened the tournament with a 38 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine, ending one stroke in front of Texas Lutheran's Aufderhaar. Senior Kristen Davenport was the second highest finisher for Southwestern. She shot an 84 to end in a tie for sixth place with two other golfers.

Senior Cody Wallace and first-year Stephanie Scholer finished tied for 16th with four others at 16-over-par (87) while first-year Kelsey Coburn rounded out the Pirate effort with an 88 to finish in 22nd place out of 43 participants.

The Pirates sit in first place by four strokes over McMurry University and look to extend their lead as the close out the tournament on Tuesday.
