PIRATES FINISH IN EIGHTH AT DIII FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Southwestern University Women's Golf team closed out the DIII Fall Championships on Monday afternoon, finishing in eighth place overall against the top DIII teams in the nation.
Kristen Davenport led the way for the Pirates finishing in a tie for 17th place with a 161. She shot an 83 on the final day, second lowest round for SU. Emily Bartholet shot the lowest round of the day for Southwestern with an 82 to finish in a tie for 25th place with 165 strokes. Cody Wallace continued her consistent play with a final round 84 to end in a tie for 27th place with 166 strokes.
First-years Kelsey Coburn and Stephanie Scholer dropped five strokes off of their first round, shooting and 85 and 86 respectively. Coburn ended with 175 strokes and in a tie for 48th while Scholer had 177 strokes for the tournament to finish in a tie for 52nd.
Fellow first-year Erin Perry had the biggest improvement of the day, dropping eight strokes on day two to shoot an 86 and finish with 180 strokes, tied for 55th.
Methodist captured the tournament shooting a 618 as a team. St. Mary's College (IN) captured the individual title with a 147 (76-71).
The Pirates will next compete at the UTD Comet Invitational in Dallas, Texas on September 28-29.
