MAULDIN MAKES IMPRESSIVE SHOWING AT STATE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Marisa Mauldin, a First Team All-American selection the Pirate
women’s golf team and 2009 SU grad, recently competed in the
State Amateur Championship held at the Ridgewood Country Club in
Waco. At the event Mauldin advanced to the semifinal match where
she fell to eventual champion Stacy Dennis.
Mauldin qualified for the championship flight by shooting a 76. She
then went on to the round of 32 to defeat Terry Ehrhardt in match
play, winning 1 up, and defeated Karisma Smith 6 and 4 in the round
of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals.
In quarterfinals action, Mauldin took down past champion Mina
Hardin in a thrilling 19 holes. The win advanced her to the
semifinal match-up where she lost Dennis 2 and 1.
Mauldin was an integral part of the Pirate golf team that took
fourth place overall at the NCAA Championships by capturing third
place overall individually at the Championships and taking.
