ROAD WOES CONTINUE AS PIRATES FALL TO CENTRE

DANVILLE, Ky. – Southwestern’s women’s
basketball team dropped their sixth road game of the season as they
fell to Centre College in SCAC action on Saturday evening 80-50.
With the loss the Pirates fall to 8-10 on the year and 4-5 in the
conference while the Colonels improve to 11-6 overall and 6-3 in
the SCAC.
The Pirates opened the game with a 5-0 run through the first four
and a half but Centre quickly turned things around and captured the
lead 30 seconds later and never allowed SU back in the contest.
Southwestern scored just 18 first half points and headed into the
break down 28, 46-18.
The second half was much of the same as the Pirates were unable to
pull within 26 points of the second place Colonels.
Senior Jessica Herbst led with 14 points for Southwestern while
junior Staley Mullins chipped in 12 points while also pulling down
11 boards. Centre’s Prewitt had a record breaking night with
37 points to set a new scoring record.
The Pirates will return to their home court for two games next
weekend. They face Rhodes College on Friday night at 6:00 pm.
