Three Records Fall at Trinity Relays

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Pirate men's track & field team set three new Southwestern records on Friday afternoon at the Tiger Relays, including two by Daniel Tuttle

Tuttle posted SU's highest finish of the day, coming in third in the 110 hurdles in an SU record time of 14.95. His time is also the best in the SCAC thus far this season by more than half a second. Tuttle continued his record setting performance by setting another record in the 400 meter hurdles. His time of 56.24 earned him fourth place overall and is 2.35 seconds faster than the previous record set by Matt Guinan in 1996. 

Cody Taylor also set an SU record in the pole vault with a jump of 3.90 meters which also earned him sixth place overall. 

The 4x100 meter relay of Zach Anglin, Ryan Huiszoon, Xi Wu, and Alex Sheppard came in fifth with a time of 46.62 and the 4x400 relays came in 9th and 14th in times of 3:30.76 and 3:44.58. The 'A' team of Anglin, Sheppard, Lando Duarte and Tuttle was a season best time. 

Paden Williams continued his strong runs with a seventh place finish in the 1500. He finished in a personal best time of 4:08.56 while Sam Martinez also recorded a top 10 finish with a time of 4:12.42. Phillip Davis came in at 4:56.30 for 22nd place in the event. Williams also took 11th in the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 1:29.21 while Duarte took 19th in a time of 2:00.85. 

Joey Quintero (pictured) was busy in field events for the Pirates. He came in ninth in the javelin with a throw of 39.67, 17th in the shot put (10.31m) and 27th in the discus (26.37m).

The Pirates return to action on April 14th as they compete in the Trinity Alumni Classic. It is their last regular season event before heading to the SCAC Championships at the end of April.
