MEN'S TRACK CONTINUES STRONG SPRING SEASON
STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The Pirate men's track and field team built off their strong season opener as they faced tough Texas competition at the Tarleton Invitational.
The Pirates had the best collective showing of the day in the 5000 meter run. Sam Martinez took 14th place in 16:08, Josh Gideon shaved just over five seconds off of his seed time and came in at 16:09.68 for 15th place in the event and a new personal best, and Allen Smith came in 16th at 16:14. Stepehn Fuentes rounded out the Pirate times in the event with a 16:41.
In the 800 meter run, Addison English finished in 15th place at 2:09.16, just one second off of his seed time. Sebastian Winkler took 17th in the 1500 meter run, finishing in 4:27.81. Avery Sheppard and Alex Sheppard both competed in the 400 meter dash, with Avery taking 18th with a time of 51.80 and Alex finishing in 53.19 for 24th place.
Also competing for SU included Sebastian Winkler's 17th place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:27.81.
The Pirates have a couple of weeks off before returning to competition at the UT-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational on March 27th.
