PIRATES REMAIN IN EIGHTH PLACE AFTER DAY TWO AT SCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After two days of action the Southwestern men's swim team is standing strong in eighth place at the SCAC Championships. SU is less than 50 points away from seventh and are looking to close the gap in the final day of action Saturday.
SU got this rolling with a seventh place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Josh Stanfield, Jon La Rochelle, Patrick Flanigan and John Prater finished with a time of 1:42.51. The 'B' squad of Steven Weddell, Thomas Newman, Taylor Steele and Stephen Montes finished in 14th with a time of 1:51.77.
Prater and La Rochelle took 12th and 15th respectively in the 100 breaststroke. Prater finished in 1:01.95 while LaRochelle came in at 1:03.98. Flanigan followed with an 11th place finish in the 100 back with a time of 56.42 while Stanfield come in 15th at 58.49.
Other finishes for Southwestern were Flanigan's 16th place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 55.37 while the 800 free relay comprised of Steele, Montes, Weddell and Newman had the second highest finish of the day for Southwestern at ninth place with a time of 7:54.00.
The Pirates close out the Championships on Saturday with finals in the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
