PIRATES FALL IN FIRST HOME MEET TO UTPB
GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Pirates were out-manned in their
first home meet and fell to the University of Texas – Permian
Basin 132-57. Four swimmers posted personal best times during the
dual meet and two took first place in their events.
Stephen Montes took first place in the 1000 free with a personal
best time of 10:42.97, 56 seconds ahead of second place finisher
UTPB’s Charnholm.
Patrick Flanigan captured the other first place finishing, coming
with a time of 23.25 in the 50 free which was a personal best time
for him.
Thomas Newman posted season best times in two events during the
meet, the 100 free and 100 breast. In the 100 free he came in at
56.57 for fourth place while in the 100 breast his time of 1:12.63
earned him fifth place.
Jon LaRochelle earned fourth place in the 200 individual medley
with a time of 2:15.31 which was a personal best.
The Pirates continue to make big jumps in times and are poised to
make waves at meets as the season continues. They head to the
University of Incarnate Word Invitational on January 29-30 before
hosting McMurry University in what will be a hotly contested dual
meet on February 6th.
