UT TYLER HANDS PIRATES 2-0 LOSS
BELTON, Texas - Southwestern's men's soccer team hit a skid on Saturday afternoon as they faced a talented UT Tyler team in Belton. SU was outshot 15-6 during the contest and were unable to find the back of the net as they fell 2-0.
The Pirates came out hard, blasting shot after shot at the UT Tyler keeper but soon the Patriots took control of the game, scoring halfway through the opening frame. At the start of the second half UT Tyler turned it up a notch and took five shots and four corners before Southwestern was able to get even a corner kick. Their first shot of the second half didn't come until the 81st minute and was quickly followed by UTT's second goal to put the game out of reach.
Junior keeper Nick Pierce had two saves and allowed one goal while first-year Daniel Poole recorded four saves. The Pirates received five corner kick opportunities to the Patriots eight which led to a 15-6 shot differential in favor of UTT.
The Pirates will come home for the first time this season on Friday, September 10th as they play host to the University of Texas-Dallas at 3:00 pm.
