Southwestern University Announces Incoming Class
Nine Student athletes have enrolled and joined the Southwestern University men's lacrosse team this fall. The incoming class is comprised of 1 long stick middie, 3 close defensemen, 1 goalie, and 4 midfielders. The players come from California and Texas.
"We went out and looked for players that would fit into our system immediately and make an impact. I think we accomplished that and more with this group of student-athletes. They are athletic, talented and great young men. We look forward to working with them over the next four years." Said Coach Ernst
Nathan Balke – Midfield/F/O (6'2", 185 lbs., Houston, TX. - Westchester Academy for International Studies) Nathan earned two letters in Lacrosse while playing for the Wildcats, and is expected to add depth to our midfield.
A J Cole – Goalie (5'9", 160 lbs., Austin, TX. – Bowie High School) AJ has been playing lacrosse for 8 years, starting at Bowie his last two seasons, and earning Academic All District in both of those seasons. AJ also played on the Trilogy and Claddagh Club teams.
Justin Corwin – Midfield (5'11", 165 lbs., Leander, TX. – Vista Ridge High School) Justin played every position for his team in high school, earning All-District honors twice, and serving as the team captain.
Jacob Freed – Defense/LSM (6'0", 170 lbs., Keller, TX, Keller High School) Jacob earned three Varsity Letters in lacrosse at Keller, was named to the Adidas All-American Team, the T-99 All Star Team, and was named All State this past year. In addition, Jacob was a team captain on a team that made the playoffs.
Nolan Klein – Midfield (6'0", 140 lbs., Cedar Park, TX, Cedar Park High School) Nolan earned two varsity letters in Lacrosse while playing for the Timberwolves.
Nick Sivon – LSM (5'11", 180 lbs., Woodlands, TX, College Park High School) Nick has played lacrosse for 8 years, earning All District honors his last three years for the Woodlands as a starter. His team appeared in the playoffs each of those years. Nick is the all-time ground ball (GB) leader for the Woodlands, and is 2nd all-time in caused turnovers (CTO).
Ross Warkentin – Defense (6'2", 190 lbs., Round Rock, TX, Round Rock High School) Ross has played lacrosse for 7 years. As a member of the Stony Point lacrosse team, his team was a state finalist in 2009 and state semi-finalist in 2010 and 2011. Ross was the Defensive MVP for the team in 2010 and 2011, and was named to the All District team in 2008, while be nominated for All-State and the Central Division All-Star team in the same year. Ross was named to the Adidas National Team, Texas Selection in 2010, and was on the All-State Defensive team both in 2010 and 2011. Ross led the team with 132 ground balls (GB), along with 2 goals and 4 assists in 2011, and had 104 (GB) in 2010 for Stony Point.
Gordon "Tripp" Williams – Attack/Midfield (5'6", 130 lbs., Colleyville, TX, Colleyville Heritage High School) Tripp earned three varsity letters in lacrosse and was a member of 2008 State Champion team for Colleyville Heritage.
Travis Zeiler – Defense/LSM – (6'0", 165 lbs., El Segundo, CA., El Segundo High School) Travis was a three year letter winner at El Segundo. His team made the state playoffs in two of those years. He served as a team captain this past year. Travis has played on multiple club teams.
