SU Athletics to Sponsor Shopping Cart Parade and Food Drive to Benefit The Caring Place

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University Athletics, with the support of HEB and Which Wich, is hosting a shopping cart float parade and food drive to support The Caring Place's "Fill 'er Up" 100 Grand Campaign at the men's basketball game Friday night at 8pm.

18 student organizations and athletic teams have adopted an HEB shopping cart to decorate and present at halftime. Spectators are asked to show their support for Pirate Athletics, their team/organization or favorite cart by donating canned goods into one of the group's food donation box at the game. Prizes, donated by HEB and Which Wich, will be awarded in three different categories; judges choice, campus choice and community award winner.

All goods collected will go to The Caring Place pantry in Georgetown in support of their "Fill 'er Up" 100 Grand Campaign which is aimed at filling the new food pantry at The Caring Place with 100,000 pounds of food, the approximate amount of food they distribute over the holidays.

Donation item needs include:

-Boxed dinners

-Baking mixes

-Assorted canned beans

-Ketsup, mustard, mayo

-Fruit juices

-Crackers

-Snacks

-Size 5 and 6 diapers
