CARRIER WINS 200 YARD FREESTYLE AT SCAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Day two at the SCAC Swim/Dive Championships in Nashville, TN was even more successful for the Pirates as they posted six more school records, had two NCAA B-cuts and one event champion.

Jessie Carrier took first place and earned All-Conference honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a new school record time of 1:55.87.

In the 100-yard backstroke, the Pirates captured second and third place. Bailey Thompson came in second at 58.66 and Sarah Ayers took third in 59.97. Both swimmers earned All-Conference honors and Thompson's swim was a new school record in addition to making the NCAA B-cut.

Thompson, Carrier, Alana Bergfield and Sam Kessler set a school record and recieved All-Conference honors with a third place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:49.81. The B team of Christine Moody, Stephanie Morton, Kelly Myers and Kathryn Ferguson finished in 16th in a time of 2:06.69.

Sarah Ayers set a school record of her own and finished in seventh place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.89. Kessler came in in 12th in the event with a time of 1:03.16.

The men set two school records of their own in the 800-yard freestyle relay and 100-yard butterfly. The relay team of Evan Firth, John Prater, Taylor Steele and Travis Macha obliterated the old record finishing in a time of 7:21.99, beating it by 17 seconds. Evan Firth is the new record holder in the 100-yard butterfly with a sixth place finish with a time of 52.44.
