Hershel Mack Orr (1914-1994), star student and athlete from West Columbia, Texas was a four year letterman in football and track at Southwestern University, under Coach "Lefty" Edens. His exceptional defensive play and blocking bulwark of power made him an All-Texas Conference halfback for two years (1936 & 1937). In 1938 he was an outstanding track star in the Texas Conference. He was a successful business man, a wonderful family man and a top football official in the Southwest.
