Raleigh resigns as Assistant Athletic Director to become Athletic Director at Schreiner

 

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Assistant Athletics Director and Chair of the Exercise and Sports Studies program Bill Raleigh has resigned his position effective August 7th to become Schreiner University's Athletics Director as announced by Dr. Glada Munt, Director of Athletics at Southwestern University.

"We, at Southwestern University, are delighted for this new professional challenge for Coach Raleigh and look forward to now working with him in his new role as Athletic Director at our colleague institution," said Director of Athletics Dr. Glada Munt. "He has had an outstanding career here at SU and will truly be missed as an important member of our staff.  We wish him great success!"

Raleigh came to Southwestern in 1999 as the Head Men's Basketball Coach and led the Pirates to their most successful years to date. He was named the SCAC Coach of the Year in 2003, leading the Pirates to an 18-9 overall record, 10-4 in the SCAC, and repeated the honor in 2005 after guiding the Pirates to a 20-7 overall record, 11-3 in the SCAC, and a #1 seed in the SCAC Championships. During that campaign, Raleigh coached the SCAC Player of the Year in Aaron Bowser.

Following the 2013-14 basketball season, Raleigh stepped down from coaching to accept a promotion to full-time athletic administrator in his role as the Athletic Department's Assistant Athletic Director and Chair of the Exercise and Sports Science program.

Schreiner University, who is also a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, has 13 intercollegiate sports and one NCAA National Championship in men's golf.
